So, I know the guidance came out about a year ago that said children should come to school in one mask with two or more changes in their bag. Then everyone went out (or let’s be honest, went online) and bought masks like crazy. Cut to over a year later and we’re pulling into the school’s parking lot at some ungodly morning hour realizing we forgot to grab those masks we hung out to dry the night before (never put them in the dryer by-the-way because they shrink). In a brief panic, we find ourselves thinking, – “Oh yeah, you need a mask! Just wear this one. I’m pretty sure it’s clean.” Justifying in your head it’s only been used by my child. It’s their germs. It’s better than nothing. And it is! (Whether or not your child will agree to reuse said mask is a whole other matter. I am guessing it has something to do with temperament and if you’re lucky probably their age).
It is. It is definitely better than nothing. But just a heads up that in some schools we’re actually seeing sores on the mask area of the face being diagnosed as Impetigo.
Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection caused by Streptococcus and Staphylococcus bacteria. It is commonly known as ‘school sores.”

But that is why at PSA you’ll find disposable masks at each entryway door.
